Why Arduino? Velleman VS Arduino

Postby Vrstorm » Fri 17. Apr 2015, 19:37

Why everyone insist to use "Arduino Uno" insted for example "Velleman VM 110"
Configuration of my DIY 2dof Motion Simulator is:
2x Wiper Motors: SWF VALEO NIDEC ITT 404.458
    Motion controller: Velleman VM 110
    Motor Driver: SABERTOOTH 2x25 A
2x 10kOhms potentiometers for motor feedback
    24V 600W power supply

And I have another Question:
1. Why I have jitter effect?
2. Motors are returned to their start position very slowly

Hi,

The VM110 has become obsolete. The Arduino has built-in intelligence so that it's itself who treats the values it reads (from pots). You no longer need to send all this informations to the software. The PID is in the code and that's why the performance is far superior !
And it costs 3x less than the Velleman card...
