Automotive Power Steering Column (EPAS)

Hi,

I've had a look about but can't seem to find anything on this - has anyone ever used the EPAS column from a car for PC racing?

There are a couple of popular units used to retrofit old cars - best example being the Vauxhall Corsa B/C column used in many Mk2 Ford Escorts in rallying.

I'm hoping there's not a good reason this hasn't been done already. I'm not an electrical engineer but i'm handy with both cars and computers so if nobody can give me a good reason, I might look into this!
