Output 1:1 Smoothness VS Math Mean value filter

You can remove fidgety movement by smoothing.

Both of these settings seem to do same thing? Is this wrong?

What's the difference.

I'm talking about slider bar in output 1:1 dialog and the "add line" mean value filter from math output. Are they more or less same as you can only go so far with the mean value.
