Postby postsol » Thu 2. Jan 2014, 22:09

Hey all

I have the problem that when i try to start the X-sim Converter, my PC asks for permission, thinks for a second and then stops thinking without anything popping up.

When i go to the joblist under the tab processes, i can see the program running.

I've tried to start it with compatabillity with Windows 7 but doesn't work.

Please help

Try to remove the interface plugins out of the x-sim directory. You should get some message.
On my side it runs.

Now insert step by step the plugins and find out which is blocking.

I had the same problem and I did the steps as SIRNONAME suggested but when I start to put the plugins one by one at the original directory the converter again hanged.

After playing with some files and after disabling antivirus and firewall I figured it out that the problem was with those plugins who scan COM PORTS. So I took a look around the DEVICE MANAGER and I found that my bluetooth device had a link over the COM PORT, so I decided to disable the com port which the bluetooth was linked and I started the converter and BOOM!! PROBLEM SOLVED!

Apparently there's some devices over comports that causes the converter's plugin to hang. SOLUTION = DISABLE THEM.

Hope this can help anyone else with similar issues.

Nice found, I know that problem of the control comport of BT. There are normally two comports for one serial BT connection, one of them is a control port and has no response if you open it with hyperterminal. Don't know why this port exist.
