2 PC option questions

Hi all, I used X-Sim software installed on one single PC (extractor and converter on the same PC) and everything works OK.

Now I use the option 2 PC and can not find information about:
Can you use WiFi communication for Extractor and Converter or cable must be?


And another question, can I use the version Converter 3.0.1.4 and Extractor 2.0.8.9b version? ie, can use Extractor and Converter of different versions?

Cable is the better way! Using wifi is working but you will get a certain amount of lag ---> not passable for me! I use wifi for testing only (if I am not in the simulator). If I want to drive I connect the two Pc's with a switch ---> perfect!

Is there any reason you want to do this? Please use the newest version on both PC's (extractor + converter).

The only reason is because I have the Extractor configured in primary PC with the old version and the secondary new PC install the current version Converter.

Windows is not realtime.
Why I write this?
Well, if you have a software that has to control a hardware in the background smoothly you need something that is fully busy to support the actuators.
Because windows is not realtime you cannot break your game exact all ms and do the job for the actuators. This means "every" delay between your control software and the actuator will reduce the smoothness of moving. Frex support this by a embedded micro controller box, we do this with a common PC. For now both is same expensive. A software that write they support such a smooth output on a single PC in windows will official do a lie and do indirectly say microsoft lies about their OS.

A delay between the game computer and the control computer will not reduce the smoothness. It will be noticed as i.e. 100ms delay lag of the actuators to the game. WLAN and switcher do some delay. WLAN between 50ms and 200ms, the switch about 1ms to 40ms depending on the network load. A correct wire would be a cross over cable without a switch or you can use a network HUB. You can verify the delay in ms by using the ping command in a command line window of windows by ping the IP address of the control PC.

No. Mostly the plugins of the old version are outdated and only some are working with current games. Please note that this version is known as repacked warez without the needed licence to distribute.

Hi sirnoname, thanks for your detailed reply. The connection via WiFi is only for test in my lab, but I will note that it is better to use wired connection.

As for what to use different versions Converter and Extractor, I understand that is not compatible, so ask only to not change the settings that I have on the primary PC.



On the other hand, for the secondary PC, I bought a ACER ICONIA W510 Tablet PC with Windows 8 (full version, not RT) for testing with X-Sim Converter.

It seems to work fine, but until don´t interconnect 2 PC will not know the software performance. This Tablet PC just going to install and use only and exclusively X-Sim converter, not msn, not internet browsers, not photshop, not autocad, nothing but X-Sim Converter.
I'll tell you the progress.

Normaly you use a embedded cheaper system:

ITX and no monitor. Instead you use VNC (tight) to control the converter.
Costs are below 100€.

But most of us here have an old PC that would have been sent to the junk yard if not used with X-Sim.

Ok, but the characteristics of the Acer Iconia W510 (1.80GHz Intel Atom Z2760 and 1MB of cache, 2GB of DDR3 SDRAM) are somewhat better than the ATX model you mention, this model of Tablet PC has to be more than enough to work exclusively with X-Sim Converter, or am I wrong?
