Where can we find the donation button for the supporter edition?

What do you mean with this?
Do you mean that if I get the supporter edition I have to buy it again as the full version when it comes or will I be able to use the non-beta when it's done?

You will find the answer in the terms of private usage. To keep it simple: the key is working in X-Sim 3 beta and release. It is not working in a version higher than 3.

I have been away for quite a while and I am trying to catch up with all these changes.

I am glad to help with a money contribution to buy myself a personal key, however, I really want to understand for how long it would be valid for, you are saying it is valid for version 3, than version 4 I would need to buy a new key.
But, how long would a version 3 last for?
What about formatting the hard drive and installing windows again, would I need a new key?

You can use the normal free edition. The supporter edition has only the offline function, X-Sim 3 is not designed for offline usage because of the community plugin.
