hi some questions

Postby ef696 » Tue 1. Jan 2013, 22:41

hi everyone. :D

I have some questions. I have no problem building the rig/frame part but I am having problem understanding the motion control part.

So do I understand this correctly? The game outputs data and then x-sim software sends the information to motion controller such as Thanos AMC1.6 USB Motion Controller?

I want to use wiper motors is there any pre-built motion controler I can use or I have to build a Thanos AMC1.6 USB Motion Controller?

Thank you

Use the Pololu JRk 12v12, one board per motor, they will handle 14v at 30 amps continuous with heat sink and fan cooling.
http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1393
7 wires, one usb cable per board , NO CODE TO WRITE. And direct connection via USO commands or the new plug in.

The software reads data from the game, then sends that information to the control board in turn which moves the motor.

JRKS will run 30 amps continuous, not just peak at 12-14v. I have run mine ridiculously hard with NO FAILURE . Heatsink the big chip and fan cool it.

Can someone explain to me what is purpose of using the pots for motor feedback position? Do I have to do that with Pololu JRk 12v12

The pot "tells" the motor where to go next via the control board.
Yes you need to hook up a pot on a lever of some sort to the motor shaft or motor lever. Use a single turn linear 4.7 or 5 kohm pot.

Once you have sorted the pots, then you can move up to multiturns if you like with gears.
Image I used left over metal gears I had lying around.

I am also using second hand actuators I had to fit new motors to and do something creative with the feedback pot.

also , heres a wiring description diagram for the jrk. Yes you need to set the pot up onto the motor/

Hello

I have got my one Pololu JRk 12v12

Is there anyway i can do a test to see wiper motor move without hooking up feedback pot? I have to wait until tommrow to get pot.
