The driver needs output PWM, but can only output one channel PWM:

Connect PWM to EN, then lead two wires to IN1, IN2 (for motor 1). Likewise for motor 2:

It gives example for motor 1 connections!!!! Then you use the according conenctions for motor2 !!!! It says "Likewise for motor 2" ;)

The connections are exactly like in DSMhb1.2, but instead of label to say PWM1 it says EN1 !!! Trust me it works the same!!

Where is says " two channels PWM CAN NOT output at the same time, otherwise will burn the driver" its referring to the driving method two!! We need driving method three!!!!

Ok Thanos ,
I always trust you ;)
It's because my english and my knowledges about this electronic's skill's aren't very high, but I understand and learn quickly! :D
I will send you a picture from my finger!!! I learned that mofsets can become very hot..
I prefer ask twice ...
Thanks

Hi, Thanos.

If you want (just in case) to connect your firmware to xSimCTRL.exe, I was written some description of messages formats. In my thread...

best regards.
Ale.

Hi Thanos,

When you used the AS5145 Automotive Rotary Encoder IC, which version did you use, was it the A, B, or the H version.
Also have you a schematic of how you hooked it up to the AMC.

Is anyone having a pcb made for the new AMC 1.6 board. I'm starting to source possible companies in the UK and on a couple of sites that have an online cost calculator I've noticed that it doesn't cost much more to get 20 made than it does for just two.

If someone else is also looking to get some made then I would be interested in buying two. If I have to get some made myself then perhaps I'll get a few extra's done that can be sold to other members to make it cheaper for all of us.

Or if Thanos is looking to get some made up we can buy from him and he can hopefully get some recompense for his hard work.

Its the H version: http://www.ams.com/eng/Products/Magnetic-Encoders/Rotary-Encoders/AS5145H

I don't have schematic but its very easy to build an RC circuit to filter PWM into analog voltage 0-5v and use it instead of a potentiometer for position feedback. To calibrate the RC filter, I set the PWM output of the sensor to 50% and adjusted the Resistor (potentiometer) until I get 2.5v. The test values of the RC I used were 2.2uF capacitor and 10Kohm potentiometer, but there is a schematic in the manual how you can make a 2nd order RC filter for it.

The update rate of this sensor is about 4ms so its kind of slow response (244 times per second) compared to the 1000 times per second of the AMC1.6.

Just keep in mind that these are really tiny chips and you need a breakout board to access the tiny pins. I used some general SSOP-16 breakout board from futurelec to be able to experiment with it.

Hi Roadster2

I don't have the means to make PCB boards now, but there is a possibility to see something interesting in the x-sim shop, on that matter soon.

Hi Thanos,

In the data sheet for the AS5145, it says the "H" version is programmable and the A and B versions are pre-programmed.
Did you program your "H" version of the chip or just use it in it's native state, unprogrammed.

Yes, I used it like it came from the factory. I didn't programmed it to the other functions yet, but I will as I want to try its quadrature encoder outputs in 10-bit or 12-bit mode. Programming is done through its SSI interface so I'll have to implement digital functions for it first.
