Yeah i got it working. It was just an error in the settings with the frame rate.
For now i don't need to do anithing because it works fine. The webcam is with a zoom lens so you can zoom really near to your head so that only the led is in range. for info its a logitech qiuckcam 5000

In my case, the zoom can not do with kinect microsoft life cam or a 5000 ... unfortunately it would be a nice thing to do zoom only the head so you would get a better result ... I can tell if there any webcam software that has this feature because if I should change the webcam would not be worth ...

But you zoom to what you need if you are building a TrackIR webcam with LED? or have I misunderstood?

Hi,
i think you misunderstood something. In the Free track programm at camera settings i can zoom with the webcam. So the video frame will only around my head not the whole room. But when you zoom to much minimal head movements will detectet. But you can figure this out in the options.

Now i had some time and the materials to build the 3 led Model. It is very low budget just 3 old remote controls some wires a switch and drinking tubes. This works much better then the 1 led Setup.

Edit:
Today i updated it a little bit. I just cut the half of an remote control to have the holder for the batteries, included my 3,5 mm soundwire and solderd a 3,5mm plug after a switch to the batteries. I put a little bit of foil on top because it looks a little bit better than the holes from the buttons from the remote control. Maybe next steps are to put a volume control and power led in the box.

Kevin just read you can't getting it to work with Dirt 3 just search in google for "Trackir Fixer". This program must to be run to get it work with Dirt 3. For Rbr there is another Programm.

Edit again:
Had some time to write a tutorial hope it helps you.

Hi Guys
I tried this 2 years ago. It worked, but not on all software. TrackIR (the commercial product) works on more games. But, at the end of the day, IMHO, you look and feel like a dorky bogan with a hat and LED's or IR reflectors on your head while playing flight sims or driving games, but the immersion factor is so good, you'd do it anyway.
HOWEVER, if your main game PC is VERY grunty, (I5 or I7 with 8gb min) you can use the open source FaceTrackNoIR. I use it all the time and it is the absolute winner in face tracking. It actually tracks your face with just a good (don't read expensive) webcam. You have to have your face well lighted from in-front and above, but as all webcams can see into the infrared as well as visible light, you can use an infrared bulb or infrared LED's and play in dim light or the dark.
Cheers
Ed

Hi,
if you use TrackIrfixer.exe you can use Freetrack with most of the games from TrackIR.

...And, if you use FaceTrackNoIR ALL games that have TrackIR support will have FaceTrackNoIR support. :D
