Fanatec ClubSport Pedals V1 modification

Postby matsuda » Tue 9. Oct 2012, 11:37

Hello, guys
I’m quite confident that most of you aware of the fact that you can easily adjust your ClubSport pedals.
But I’d like to give you few tips on what else could be done on them^

1. Inverted mounting
By default Fanatec pedals are supposed to be floor mounted. But I always wanted to be mounted upside down like so:

2. Custom pedal covers
I’ve found that if you invert-mount them stock pedal covers become really uncomfortable.
That’s why I’ve replaced them with custom pedal covers which are more ergonomic:
362
Bought them from ebay for around 50 USD

3. Damper for brake pedal
The pedal in its default position felt too soft to me. You can of course adjust it by changing the throw to one step.
But then it becomes really stiff and lacks the throw as well. So if decided to leave it in default position and added a damper to it
363
Result is:
- Adds up hydraulic feel to brake pedal
- Becomes more progressive

The price of the damper was around 15 USD

Hey Matsuda. Thanks for sharing that. Can you elaborate on your brake pedal mod? CS pedals have a very stiff stock throw of only an inch or so because of the load cell. So, what did you do with that foam plug that sits on the load cell? Is it still in use? Normally, it compressing is the only thing that allows pedal travel. Is the travel still the same on yours?

Hi, Turn

1. Please check what is your current throw position, is it the leftmost as it is on picture bellow? For me personally, the throw in such position is the best but it makes the pedal too soft. I did tried a stiffer setting but the travel of the pedal is not acceptable for me. That's why I've added up the damper to make the feel of the pedal more realistic in default position.
2. I would not recommend you to remove the foam from a load cell or replace it with something else. There is risk that you may brake the load cell as it might get crushed by metal rod of brake pedal. There are several instances of broken load cells on CSP previously.

Mine is 3 notches stiffer than yours. Travel about 1 inch. What is the total travel of your pedal?

Wow, that is no wonder why you complained earlier about throw of pedal...

Travel of the brake pedal on mine is comparable to the travel of the clutch but with increased progression and stiffness. If think it is around 25-30 deg.

I can make a video later on how it looks like. Cheers.

I wasn't complaining, just stating. The pedal travel is okay with me. You don't need to bother about making a video, I understand your mod * Thanks.
