This ones my dear friend, for the joy of your eyes (ok, this instroduction sounds like p****graphy... but i guess this is "sim-p****")... decide for your impresions...

The sim is made by two barzilian brothers (enginers), as they said in a blog, everything stared just for fun, and now, one of them got a NASA scolarship and they mounted-up a web-site, i guess they want to sell they desings. http://www.bsmotion.com

two axis, but impresive 360º of rolling and pitching

ladys and gentlemands: (i guess this a full testosterone forum)

what does our experts say about it?? i guess there is no cheap solution for this one right? i mean no wiper motors can achieve this but... maybe something else?

This is the second time you have detailed a sim of either a commercial or a wicked private build.
What are you really up to?
I am now suspicious of your intentions. Are you actually trying to find a design to build?
Or are you a commercial sim builder looking for cheaper options from us "experts" and then taking this to the market.

Dear motionDave:

I did´nt presented my self, this is not the correct forum to do so, but, since you ask, i am from mexico, i am a 32 manager, married and i have 2 children.
i really like simulators since i was a kid playing with coins in arcadias, obviouly at least in mexico playing with a sim was expensive, i remmember having to deside to play 4 arcade machines or 1 simulator game :D, a year or so ago, i was thinking, now that i earn my own money, why not buying a sim... :D i was googling and found some expensive equipment, then i said to myself why not make one, and that is the way i got to the old * forum and now i jumped to this one... everytime i have a little time in the office i google for sims, little by little thanks to the old forum i now have and idea about how sims works, and right now i am considering building a cheap design for me, but... as a lot of the poeple loocking around this forum, i am just usless in electronics, i can do some hardware but nothing about electronics, so if i make something it would be with "out of the shelf parts."

i like smalls designs since my home is small and i will place my sim just byside of my tv sofa :D

on the other hand, and about your question... no, i dont plan selling nothing by now, if i can essambly my sim, then we can talk :D

and yes, i havent post two, but three different sims desings completely different to the clasics flex, dary-sato or joyrider that are the most commond designs around this forums i think, and i did it to participy, since i understand that this a new forum trying to get things better and traying to imprube participation...

and lastly, i posted in this branch because it says "motion simulators of our competitors", i asked floriske if my post were right and he told me that everything was fine. and since i can't participate doing enginering or so, i try to post this things i have seen.

I hope you have'nt seen the brazilian sim yet, so you enjoyed.

best regards from your mexican friend

Ok then, point taken, so what sort of design are you looking for.
I have built 8 sims in the past of compact designs including a "joyride atom"style.
The big sim you mention here would use expensive 240v motors as you can see.
I am not sure what you expect us "experts" to comment about it.

I remember them from the old * site. They were using the x-sim software but never shared their work on hardware, instead they went commercial.

Motiondave:

i want to construct a sim with this characteristics:

1. Cheap, cheap cheap
2. for race games
3. small and light, easy to move, (it would be in my tv room, and my wife is lovely but you know how it goes, is a big toy lying around :D)
4. electronically easy (since as i said :( i am electronicly usless)
(i guess that electronics are a big gab for a lot of guys like me, it would be nice if some one sell a nice "all inclusive cheap box")

any advise??... i think that wiper motors would be my choise (for cost and because here in mexico i can get them used and cheap) but in the other aspects of the design i am lost

(man, i really apretiate your question about the kind of simulator i want to construct, i really dont want to be a smartass around here)

best regards from mexico

Righto, perhaps do some sketches of what you would like, also mention your weight and height, and we can help with design.
Electronics would be the easy option of using the Pololu JRK 12v12 http://www.pololu.com/catalog/product/1393 , one per motor, 7 wires and one usb cable per motor.
For motors , wipers are good and if you wish, you can move up later.
An all inclusive "cheap" box is not really that cheap. I can build a motor ( http://www.motiondynamics.com.au/worm-d ... orque.html ), JRK, pot, wired up on a piece of MDF for $450 AU + shipping per corner/axis. Just build a sim, mount the motors in a suitable spot, hook up the levers and done. All settings are done on the JRK, you just need to get your pc to recognize it and enter USO commands for x-sim.

Most interresting thing on this post is for me: how made they a power supply for their peripherals. On such a thing you can´t use cables and plug them into that joystick, monitor, etc. :?:
There must be a connection like on a steering wheel from a car or something. but there´s only one contact for the horn. Negative is coming from the column. But in their sim are a few more signals to deliver.
