Well I came into X-Sim for it's ability to read data from the sim and convert it into sound frequencies so it can drive a tactile transducer ...
... so far I think I understood the base concept of the software, the Extractor does the first part, the Converter coverts the data into movement, sound or display ... in short!
Now setting up the extractor was easy, got a iRacing profile, to my knowledge, updated. The only throwback I found was the inability to launch the sim in another browser other than IE or Steam.
Setting up the Converter is undoubtedly a much harder task. Firstly I tried to find iRacing profiles that suited what my needs (converting data into sound waves) using the BassShaker plugin, but could only find two, kinda outdated (latest was 2013). So my first question is: is there any updated iRacing BashShaker profiles updated? Who is using this plugin with iRacing? Secondly I would like to understand how this works so I can tweak a little and make my own profile.
On the profiles I found, one thing in common, two outputs, BassShaker frequency and volume. Then some axis, one profile has only two, the other has a bunch of them, sim data related, like RPM, speed, brake, bumps, etc. This looks more like what I'm looking for! They present themselves in form of sliders, which makes me think moving the slider up and down has effect on the intensity of each of these parameters. But I still haven't found how to open and edit each of the parameters, how to create new ones, nor for that matter to fully understand what they stand for, since only the first characters of the name appear on the slider (see attached screen capture). In which part of the extractor can I see in detail these effects, individually.
Well I really hope to find some helpers here, cause I really am knew around this kind of software.
Greetings to you all and good luck with all the ongoing projects.
